The product Phiten sells more of than anything else in Japan — and the one we built the India launch around.
Seventy small round discs of Aqua Titanium tape on a roll of backing paper. You peel one off and put it to the area of concern: the base of the neck, the back of a shoulder, either side of a knee, the arch of a foot. It is 30 mm across, skin-coloured, and nobody will notice you are wearing it.
What is in it
Aqua Titanium — titanium dispersed in water at nano level using the process Phiten has been refining in Kyoto since 1983 — carried through the fabric itself rather than coated on the surface. Acrylic adhesive on a polyester-cotton-polyurethane base.
How to use it
- Clean and dry the skin first. No lotion or oil underneath.
- Put one disc to the area of concern. Two or three around a joint if that is where it sits.
- Leave it on. It is water-resistant — showers and sweat are fine.
- Change it every two to three days, or when it stops sticking.
Honest expectations
Some people notice a settling within an hour. Plenty of people notice nothing dramatic and simply find the area bothers them less over a week of steady use. Phiten's own language is about supporting relaxation and recovery, and we would rather set that expectation than oversell it.
If you have reactive skin, patch-test one disc on your forearm for a few hours first.
