How to use it
Everything here works the same way: put it to the area of concern, leave it alone, and give it a week before you decide. Below is the detail for each format.
Power Tape Discs
- Skin clean and dry. No lotion, oil or talc underneath — the adhesive will not hold.
- Peel one disc off the backing sheet and press it to the spot of concern. Around a joint, two or three discs spaced around it works better than one in the middle.
- Leave it on. It is water-resistant, so showers, sweat and a swim are all fine.
- Change it every two to three days, or sooner if the edges lift.
Common places people start: the base of the neck, the top of the shoulder blade, either side of a knee, the arch of the foot, the outside of an elbow.
Power Tape X30 roll
- Cut the length you need and round off the corners — square corners catch on clothing and peel.
- Anchor the first few centimetres with no stretch at all.
- Apply the middle section with light stretch, maybe 15 to 25 per cent. Do not pull it tight; more tension is not more effect, it is just more likely to irritate skin.
- Lay the final anchor down with no stretch.
- Rub along the whole strip once it is on. The adhesive activates with warmth.
Two to three days per application is normal. Peel it off slowly in the direction of hair growth, ideally in the shower.
If you have sensitive skin
Patch-test one disc on the inside of your forearm for a few hours before you commit to a larger application. If you see redness that does not settle within an hour of removal, stop using it.
How long before I know
Give it a week of consistent use. Some people describe a settling or loosening within the first hour; plenty of people notice nothing dramatic at all and simply find that the area bothers them less by the end of the week. Both are normal. If a week of steady use changes nothing for you, it is not for you, and we would rather you knew that than kept buying.
When not to use it
- On broken, infected or irritated skin.
- Over a fresh injury that has not been looked at by a clinician.
- As a replacement for treatment you have been prescribed.
